Night Voyage

This painting was inspired by the Rolling Stones' hit "Jumpin' Jack Flash." It's been said that the lyrics may refer to Germany's blitzkrieg on London during WWII. I started thinking, maybe the Royal Navy's going out for a night raid across the Channel.

I would call JJF my all-time favorite song. The music grabs me in a visceral way, which would be enough to make me love it -- but in this particular case, I also relate to the lyrics: not only has the subject made it through a difficult time, he's even managed to make the present a gas, gas, gas.

This painting took second prize in the Broward Art Guild's 67th Annual Members' Exhibit (2017)! See the second photo.
