I've always enjoyed Hurricane Smith's "Oh Babe, What Would You Say?" for its innocent sentiment. I was trying for a warm, rich look here to
complement the lushness of the song's arrangement.
Among other things, the lyrics talk about (caressing you through the) night time, and (bringing you) flowers (every day), so in this case the painting is partly an illustration of them.
This painting inspired Bram Stoker Award-winning author Christopher Conlon's short story "The Slow Coming of the Dark."
